Had a rough time working last night with the kids home and bored stiff, since it now gets dark at 5pm here in the Southwest. Didn't start writing until about 9:30, and even then I spent more time going back over the last couple of chapters of Mojave to try and figure out where I was heading. That took two hours, and it was midnight by the time I hit 1,000 words for the day. Sigh...
My wife and I (and our 12YO daughter, but not so much the 9YO) like Daniel Craig's iteration of Bond...Amy is going to see Quantum of Solace Friday night with a girlfriend, and I'll probably take Katy on Saturday. I've been seriously considering picking up a Sony Reader this year as I'm collecting a lot of books and magazines in PDF form (I'm waiting to see if the new touchscreen edition drives down the price for the other models...I think $299 is too much). They have an Ian Fleming edition that comes with a few Bond titles; that may be my excuse to finally get around to reading some of his work.
On that note, you needed a new song stuck in your head today, right?

I've never been interested in Bond movies until Daniel Craig signed up, hence Casino Royale is the only Bond movie I've ever seen.
Good luck with those plot holes, they're not usually treacherous.
I've seen probably 3 or 4 from the Moore/Connery era, but I didn't see any from Dalton or Brosnan. Growing up in the U.S. in the 70s and 80s, you had to watch Bond movies if you were a male; it was like smoking and wearing 3/4 sleeve shirts and riding a BMX bike...no questions, just get on board, son. They were OK, I guess, for the era...but I do like Craig. Gives 007 a tough-guy edge, instead of just being a violent, misogynistic civil servant.
And in largely unrelated but wonderful news, it would appear that you won second place in the Cafe Doom competition. CONGRATS! If I recall correctly (it's all a blur now) your story received my first place vote. It was fantastic. I bow down to your greatness. (I came a measly sixth, by the way.)
Really? Holy crap, that's awesome! I'm heading over there now...thanks Felicity!
And Thanks to you, too, Cate, I saw you voted for Mrs. M as well!
WOOT! WOOT!
I agree, Connery was the best Bond although the only one I haven't seen in action is Craig's version. My mother was a fan.
I just saw the news over at Cafe Doom that you came in second! Congrats! Good story.
For the record, I've been a fan of Bond in all his incarnations. Timothy Dalton was my least favorite, but Daniel Craig is near the top of the list, I think.
YAY! I just saw that Mrs Marsupial's Tea Party, my absolute favourite story in the Cafe Doom comp came 2nd and was written by you. YAY! I was so hoping I'd know the person who wrote it.
Thanks Rob & Cate! Still doing the happy dance over that...
